How to build a simple sales funnel with Systeme.io

A sales funnel sounds bigger than it is. At its simplest it is a short path: a page that offers something useful, a form that collects an email address, and a page that says thanks and delivers it. Everything else, such as a sales page, a checkout and upsells, can be added later.

Systeme.io combines funnels, email and a page editor in one account. The steps below follow its Help Center articles on creating a funnel and an opt-in page. Menu labels can change, so check the Help Center if something looks different.

Step by step

  1. Decide on one offer and one audience

Systeme.io's own funnel guide makes the same point: pick one product or service and one audience before you build anything. 'Freelance designers who want a faster client onboarding' is a funnel. 'Everyone who needs a website' is not.

Then choose a free resource that solves one small problem for that audience. A one-page checklist often beats a long ebook, because people finish it.

  2. Create your account and check the limits

Systeme.io lists a free plan. On its pricing page, checked on 2 November 2026, the Free plan included up to 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 course and unlimited email sends, and does not require a credit card. The Free plan also included 1 custom domain, 1 automation rule and 1 email campaign. The Startup plan was listed at $17 per month. Prices and limits change, so look at the page before you plan around them.

  3. Create the funnel

In the dashboard, go to Sites, then Sales funnels, then Create. Enter a name, choose your domain and the currency. You then pick a funnel type. The Help Center describes four: Build an Audience (an opt-in page plus a thank-you page), Sell (an order form plus a thank-you page), Custom (a blank canvas) and Run an evergreen webinar, which is only available on the Webinar and Unlimited plans.

For a first funnel, choose Build an Audience.

  4. Edit the opt-in page

Open the opt-in step, choose a template and click Edit page. Replace the template's copy and images with your own. Keep the page focused: one promise, a short list of what the visitor gets, one form, one button. Remove anything that competes with the button.

Write only what is true. Do not add testimonials, user counts or ratings you cannot back up.

  5. Connect the steps

Click the form button, set 'Action when button clicked' to Submit form and set the redirect to 'To the next step'. That sends people from the opt-in page to your thank-you page after they sign up. The Help Center article on linking funnel pages shows the same setting for longer funnels, such as opt-in, sales page, order form, upsell and thank-you page.

  6. Deliver the resource and send a welcome email

On the thank-you page, link to the resource or tell people it is on its way by email. Then set up a short automatic welcome email that delivers the download. Systeme.io's guide recommends a short sequence that builds trust before an offer. Keep it to a few useful emails first, without a hard sell.

Legal basicsIf you collect email addresses from people in the EU, state clearly what they will receive and link to your privacy policy next to the form. Do not pre-tick consent boxes. Rules differ by country, so check what applies to your business.
  7. Publish and test it yourself

Publish the funnel, open it in a private browser window and sign up with an address you control. Check that the confirmation, the download and the welcome email all arrive, and that every page works on a phone. Fix what is broken before you send anyone traffic.

What comes next

Once the opt-in works, add the next steps in the same order Systeme.io's Help Center shows: a sales page, an order form, then an optional upsell and a thank-you page. Add them one at a time and test each. A funnel with one step that works is worth more than a long one that leaks.
